Brown Hare Survey

Surrey and Hampshire FWAG are gathering information on Brown hares. The Brown Hare is an iconic symbol of the British farming landscape. Although hares are relatively widespread their numbers are in decline. The Brown Hare is a BAP species; this means it has been identified as a priority species by local and national Bio-diversity Action Plans.
We have some data, but more is needed on populations of hares. For example, we are aware that there are many more hares in East Hampshire compared to West Surrey. It is possible that we just haven't heard about those in Surrey. All information on populations is valuable.
If you know of hares in your area or on your farm (Hampshire or Surrey) we would be grateful if you could take part by contacting Shuan Page. All information gathered will be kept confidential.
